Basingstoke Town manager Jason Bristow's weekly column

THIS week we face league leaders Bromley in what will be our toughest test yet.
We will certainly have to be at our best to get anything from the game. We will need to defend well, but we also have to create chances going forward.
Bromley are in fine form and have been scoring a lot of goals recently. Bradley Goldberg has scored a lot of goals and we will have to watch him carefully but they have a lot of good individuals going forward and they defend as a team.
Bromley had an excellent result on Tuesday night and I think they have won something like nine of their last 10 – but the game at their place, which we lost 3-2, was one of those that could have gone either way.
We thought that a draw would have been a fair result. They scored three very good goals but it was a tough defeat for us to take because we played well.
It was a good performance on a difficult pitch, with two very well taken goals from Kezie Ibe, The game gave us a good opportunity to get some minutes into players that needed some game-time as well as give a rest to some that have played a lot recently.
It has certainly given us food for thought for Saturday’s game.
The Academy had a good performance last week, drawing 0-0 at Gosport Borough. There were a few chances for the side and they can consider themselves unlucky not to have come home with three points.
We have a very busy period coming up and we will need all players fit. With so many games in a short space of time we will need to utilise the squad and it’s important that whoever plays is in good shape to do the job we are asking of them.
