TADLEY Calleva remain in contention near the top of the Wessex League Division One table after drawing 1-1 with visiting Pewsey Vale at Barlows Park on Saturday.

The home side edged the first half and took the lead on the half-hour mark, defender Sean Dallimore heading home Callum Bush's free-kick from the right wing.

Pewsey Vale improved after the break and levelled the match on the hour with another header from a set-piece. Neither side was able to find another goal and the points were shared.

Tadley manager Danny Dolan said: “It was a fair result and a decent draw for us. They beat us twice last year so I was quite pleased to get a point and we are now three league games unbeaten.”

That unbeaten run will be tested to the limit on Saturday, when Tadley travel down the M3 to face Team Solant, who are yet to lose a league game this season.

“It's a massive test for us,” Dolan added. “Solant are a very good side who will be looking to get promoted this year.

“It should be an entertaining game and hopefully we can go there and get at least a point. Three points would be absolutely fantastic but I will be happy if we can come away without getting beaten.”
