TADLEY Calleva manager Danny Dolan is not a man to rest on his laurels.

After guiding the Barlows Park club to a respectable seventh place in Wessex League Division One last season, Dolan now has his sights set on making Tadley regular top six contenders.

“We were pleased with what we achieved last year but now we want to establish ourselves as a top six side,” he said. “A top six finish is a must this season, otherwise I will be very disappointed.”

To help him achieve this aim, Dolan has brought in several new players, including defenders Simon Bird, Dale Newcombe and Andy Charsley and midfielders Callum Bush and Luke Adams.

He has also retained the majority of last season’s squad, with goalkeeper Lee Allen and left-back James Tennant the only players to have left during the close season.

Tadley’s league campaign begins on Saturday, when they make the trip down to the south coast to take on Hayling United, who have been demoted from the Premier Division due to problems with their ground.

Dolan added: “We are looking forward to the season starting. We have had a good pre-season and are hoping to go down to Hayling Island and get three points.”
