RAMSDELL claimed a vital victory in their bottom-of-the-table clash against Midhurst in Hampshire League County Division Four North.

Andy Barrett made 93 as Ramsdell reached 270, while basement side Midhurst were restricted to 180-6 in reply, giving the hosts a 90-run victory.

AWE Tadley and Hobos both lost their games. Tadley were bowled out for 148 at home to Petersfield, with the visitors getting home for a five-wicket win, while Hobos went down by 51 runs at Steeple Langford. Kallum Watta made 62 as the visitors tried to chase down their hosts’ total of 253-9, but they were bowled out for 202.

Both north Hampshire sides in Division One suffered defeat. Shane Brewer hit 58 as Hook and Newnham Basics II were bowled out for 229 at St Cross Symondians III, a total the hosts knocked off for an eight-wicket win.

Alton II made 270-9 against visiting Old Basing, with Kabir Lotta taking 3-37, and while Dan Belcher made 59 and Darren Turner 57 for Basing, they were bowled out for 217 to lose by 53 runs.

Overton were the only local side to claim victory in Division Three North, beating hosts Holybourne by eight wickets. Andrew Regan was the architect of the win, taking 4-37 as the home side were bowled out for 117, with Overton losing just two wickets on route to reaching their target.

Hartley Wintney II suffered a collapse to lose by 45 runs at home to South Newton. The visitors were restricted to 175-8, with Jonathan Kerr and Max Snadden taking three wickets each. Hartley made a good start with the bat, Steve Jones making 59 as they reached 82-1 and 103-3 but they lost their last seven wickets for just 27 runs, being bowled out for 130.

Tom Trinder made 68 as Whitchurch lost by 89 runs at home to Hursley Park II, being dismissed for 143 chasing 232-7.

High-flying Basingstoke and North Hants III lost by six wickets at OTs and Romsey III after being bowled out for 201.

Hook and Newnham Basics III also lost. Nick Harding made 55 in their total of 244-9 but hosts Amport got home for a six-wicket win.
