The chairman of Romsey’s War Horse project is asking businesses in the town to show their support by placing a horse in their window during July.

Dorothy Baverstock wants to see models and images of horses around to help promote the appeal during Romsey Festival.

The project has already raised more than £40,000 for a life-size bronze resin statue of horse and trooper to be erected in the town’s War Memorial Park and Hampshire artist, Amy Goodman, is hard at work on the sculpture.

Dorothy explained: “It doesn’t have to be a model. It can be something relevant to your business. Like a jeweller could display a pair of cufflinks with horses on them. We want people to think outside the box and give visitors something interesting to look at.”

Those unable to come up with an equine idea of their own can put the War Horse leaflet in their window which shows how the finished statue will look in its park setting.
