MEMBERS of staff at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council are set to receive a one-off £100 bonus in recognition of the impressive 2014 Residents’ Survey results.
As previously reported by The Gazette, the 2014 Residents’ Survey, which is conducted independently for the borough council to assess how satisfied residents are with the council’s services, showed that 96 per cent of the 1,100 people surveyed were happy living in Basingstoke.
In addition, 88 per cent of people said they felt they belonged to the area, and 84 per cent of people questioned were happy with the way the council runs its services.
The borough council’s human resources committee is now set to make a recommendation to the full council to award each employee the payment after council leader Councillor Clive Sanders called on the authority to reward employees for their hard work.
If agreed by full council on December 11, the payment will be added to each employee’s salary on December 18.
The reward scheme will cost the authority £61,000, which will be found from businesses unit savings.
Cllr Sanders said: “These excellent results are testament to the effectiveness of our staff.
“They have seen significant changes in their ||workplace, and been through considerable uncertainty, but nevertheless have contributed enormously to finding new ways to do even more but with less.”
