BRAMLEY residents are being asked to get involved in the future of the village by becoming part of a neighbourhood planning team.

The parish council has already initiated the formation of a neighbourhood development plan and now needs a team of residents to co-ordinate the project. The plans, which are being developed nationwide, are theoretically designed to give local communities the power to decide what type of development they would accept and where it should go.

They will only be adopted following an independent examination and referendum, becoming part of the local planning rules.

The council now needs a 10-to-15-strong team of residents, business owners, representatives of community organisations and landowners. An open public session will be held on Friday, March 8 from 3.30pm in the Bramley Room at the village hall to encourage Bramley residents to come forward.
