A SNEAKY thief broke into a Basingstoke hotel room to take electronic items.

The burglary at the Apollo Hotel, at Aldermaston Roundabout, Popley, took place some time between 11.30pm on October 10 and 7.30am on October 11.

The offender stole a hotel guest’s iPad and laptop, as well a wallet and a mobile phone.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man from Basingstoke in connection with the incident but he was was later released with no further action.

Officers have now released CCTV images from the hotel in a bid to track down the thief.
