SOUTH Central Ambulance Service is urging people across Basingstoke to only call them if they are in an emergency due to a high number of calls over the festive period.
The ambulance service is currently experiencing an increase in calls and is warning there could be “significant” delays in responding to patients who are not suffering from a life threatening condition as they will prioritise patients in a life threatening situation.
They are urging people across Basingstoke to use all NHS resources appropriately and only call 999 if it is absolutely essential.
If you are suffering with an illness or injury which is not life-threatening, the ambulance service is urging you to:
• Visit your local pharmacy
• Contact your GP or out of hours GP
• Contact NHS111
• Access NHS Choices online to check your symptoms and find your nearest service.
