BCoT is still able to consider applications for courses starting this month.

“With A-level and GCSE results out only a few weeks ago, it’s inevitable that some students are still making up their mind what to do next,” said BCoT’s Tom Quante.

“But it’s not too late for them to come and talk to us about their options.”

Early indications show that the college has received an increased number of applications this year, a sign that Tom believes means the value of vocational courses is being more widely recognised as a route to both better employment opportunities and further academic study.

“As a college of technology, BCoT has always been about preparing our students for the world of work and our excellent employer links across the college demonstrate that,” Tom explained.

“However, BTECs are also a very viable stepping stone to further studies and we have seen more and more of our students use their Level 3 results to go on to university.”

The college offers a range of work-related courses, from entry to university level in most subject areas.

For the first time this year, BCoT is also offering some students the opportunity to take an A-level alongside their Level 3 BTEC. This would effectively give them the equivalent of four A-levels after two years at the college.

Tom said: “Most teaching starts in the next few days, so I would urge anyone interested not to leave it too long before talking to us but, as a college, we are always keen to help when we can.”

Potential students can either visit BCoT in person and head to reception on South Site, Worting Road, or call 01256 354141 to find out more.
