A PIZZA chain has launched its 1,000th UK store in Overton today.

The Winchester Street pizzeria is marking the day with a celebration in and around the village involving local artists and musicians.

The official grand opening party will be kicked off with the unveiling of a special gold plaque on the storefront at 2pm.

Basingstoke artist, Sian Storey, has designed a limited edition set of 100 aptly coined ‘Domi-notes’ in homage to the village history of producing bank notes.

The Domino’s currency will be hidden around Overton from today onwards with each one worth a free personal pizza.

Chris Holden, a popular singer songwriter from the area, known for his E.P. Skies Are Red, will perform at the new store opening and entertain guests with pizza-themed tunes, including Take Another Pizza My Heart (from Janice Joplin's Take Another Piece Of My Heart), Love Me Dough (of The Beatles' Love Me Do) and Pep Per Oni (from B*witched's C’est la Vie).
