A HOOK curry house has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.

Hook Tandoori, in Station Road, will join a host of the nation’s best curry houses who have been shortlisted as winners at the British Curry Awards.

The restaurant will compete in the Best Spice Restaurant in South East Award on Monday November 28 at the 12th instalment of the nation prize-giving.

A host of the country’s most influential people from the worlds of politics, sport, film, television, the arts and fashion attended.

A spokesperson for Hook Tandoori said: “We want to thank all of our well-wishers, customers, colleagues and everybody who has continued to support us for a long time.

“Everyone who has come into the restaurant and enjoyed the food – thanks.”

The British Curry Awards has become a national institution in its own right and a key fixture on the hospitality industry’s calender.

Hook Tandoori has previously won a string of awards including being featured in the Cobra Good Curry Guide and Good Eating Guide, whilst noting celebrity diners to the restaurant as golfer Justin Rose, tv’s Dr Hilary Jones and Falcon from Gladiator.

Shelim Hussain MBE, founder of awards’ sponsor kukd.com, said: “It is a great honour to be a part of a well-respected award ceremony that sets the benchmark for all others.

“These awards celebrate the achievements of a significant industry within the UK and we are proud of the association.”

Prime Minister Theresa May, a former speaker at the awards, said: “The British curry industry really is one of Britain’s greatest success stories. From that first curry house two hundred years ago has sprung a multi-billion pound industry, which is modern, successful and thriving.

“Through hard work and innovation, you’ve built a vibrant industry, which generates wealth, promotes growth and employs tens of thousands of people.”
