POKEMON fever is engulfing the world and the new hit game has taken Basingstoke by storm.

The new Pokemon Go game was launched in the UK on Wednesday and since then children, teenagers and adults have been pacing the streets of Basingstoke in a bid to track down all 250 Pokemon.

Users 'catch' the digital creatures and train them in battle, following the style of the hit 1990s videogames and TV show.

The Pokemon have been placed at coordinates around Basingstoke and other towns, with players using a smartphone app to track them down.

A cast which includes favourites Pikachu, Charizard and Squirtle can be found doting the streets waiting to be caught by the lucky passer-by who finds them.

It's a craze which has relaunched the Nintendo franchise, even if everyone collectively sighs when their phone vibrates to reveal a nearby Pidgey or Rattata.

Gazette reports Tim Birkbeck and Clive Hammond have tried their hand at locating as many as they could around the town with pictures above showing their results.

And now, The Gazette is calling on its readers to send in pictures of their favourite pokemon in their favourite or most bizarre spot they have been found.

If you have spotted a Pokemon, email your pictures to Clive Hammond at clive.hammond@basingstokegazette.co.uk.
