WATCHING football can be a rollercoaster of emotions, and as Euro 2016 starts to heat up a local supermarket has come up with a series of recipes designed to help fans along the ride.

Morrison’s in Worting Road teamed up with ex-England shot stopper David Seaman to test the supermarkets new Emotion Cookbook.

As previously reported by The Gazette, shocked shoppers saw the former Arsenal legend in the store’s in-house café, but were unsure as to why he was there.

Morrison’s has now revealed that the man who made 75 appearances in goal for England, was shooting a promotional advert for the cookbook, whilst reliving the highs and lows in his International career, tucking into a celebration or comfort meal accordingly.

Throughout his career Seaman was known as ‘safe hands’ and believes fans will be in safe hands with these recipes.

He said: “Anybody that knows me knows I like my food, so when I was offered the job as a food tester I jumped at the chance.

“It was an emotional day taking a trip down football memory lane and reliving the highs and lows of my England career.

“But the reviews are in and I am pleased to say that the celebration recipes made the high moments taste better, whilst the comfort food took the edge off memories of knockouts and lost penalty shoot-outs.

“I would recommend football fans check out the cookbook as it might just help them get through what is bound to be another emotional rollercoaster of a tournament.”

Morrison’s – the second largest fresh food producer in the UK – expects to welcome more than 11 million customers into its stores each week this summer as the nation soaks up sporting events.

Head chef at Morrison’s, Richard Jones said the 52-year-old England legend was the perfect man to test the recipes on.

He said: “We’ve had great fun cooking up a series of dishes designed to tripper a specific emotional response and are confident we’ve got a meal to match any match.”
