A VIDEO posted to YouTube shows water gushing from the ceiling of a Basingstoke supermarket last night.

As reported on The Gazette website yesterday, the store, in Brighton Hill, was closed following heavy rain across the town.

A sign posted outside the shop said it was shut because of 'unforeseen circumstances'.

The video, posted to YouTube yesterday, shows rain water pouring in through the roof of the supermarket as shoppers and staff were still inside the store.

A spokeswoman for Asda said: "There was a small amount of water leaking through the ceiling and colleagues were on hand straight away to clear it up.

"The store closed to customers at 6pm for health and safety reasons but we were open as normal today from 7am.

"Staff worked overnight to get it fixed. There were a couple of areas closed the next day and there was a deep clean of the store. The closed areas are to re-open tomorrow."
