AN OAKLEY pub has re-opened this month –- complete with a new menu and glamorous decor.

The Beach Arms, in Clerken Green, opened its doors once again to the general public to welcome the community in to see what the revamped pub looks like.

Originally a Crown Carvery, the pub, which is approximately 200-years-old, has brightened up its interior and now serves a wide selection of classic cuisines.

Along with traditional carvery dinners, the pub now offers pizzas, such as all-day breakfast, fish finger and duck and hoisin sauce varieties, as well as burgers and other family favourites.

The Beach Arms was officially reopened on Saturday, June 4 and dozens of people from across Oakley and the borough visited including new Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Cllr Jane Frankum.

Balloons were released to commemorate the day as well as face-painting, food and drink.

The pub will be supporting a variety of charities and since opening confirmed that for the first quarter of this year it will be supporting Basingstoke Voluntary Action, Sebastian’s Action Trust and the NSPCC.

Pauline Storer, general manager at Beach Arms, said: “We have made so many changes to the pub –- it looks and feels completely different.

“The reaction we got was great from people who visited –- they all seemed to really enjoy the pizzas that we gave out and the new, rebranded decorations.

“The way it previously looked was very dark and traditional, so we wanted to make it look modern so have gone with a blue theme.

“We’re open as normal again now and welcome everyone from the community to pop in for a pizza.”
