A BASINGSTOKE charity has been shortlisted for an award for its outstanding performance.

Basingstoke Shopmobility was chosen out of 216 entries for the Tom Hillier Award received by the National Federation of Shopmobility (NFSUK).

The award will be presented at the British Healthcare Awards on December 3 in London by broadcaster Bill Turnbull.

Anne Blackmore, manager at Basingstoke Shopmobility, said: “We were excited to be nominated by our clients.

To be shortlisted is fantastic, to win would be amazing. Our staff and volunteers work so hard to provide an excellent service, this recognition for that would be a great pat on the back for them.”

The charity hires scooters and wheelchairs to temporary and permanently disabled people, and those who are less mobile, and also offers a safe place to talk and have a chat. This is the first year the Tom Hillier Award will be presented at the British Healthcare Awards, which celebrates achievements in the healthcare industry.
