A MAN has been given a caution after being arrested as part of Hampshire Constabulary’s Operation Fortress campaign.
A 43-year-old was arrested at a property in Abbey Road, Popley after officers found a small quantity of a suspected Class A drug and a can of CS gas.
At the time of the arrest police also found a crossbow at the house, which was seized by officers as nobody at the property would claim ownership of it.
Police searched properties around Basingstoke on January 17 as part of the campaign.
Operation Fortress was a campaign to crackdown on drug-related violence. Key aims were to restrict the supply of Class A drugs and to protect vulnerable communities.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who is concerned about illegal drugs or drug-related crime in their neighbourhood.
During the operation further searches were carried out in Bach Close, Oakridge Road, St Michael’s Road and Wagner Close.
The man was initially released on bail until March 28, but following further enquiries, officers gave the man a caution for possession of MDMA and a pepper spray.
