POLICE investigating a robbery in Basingstoke have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the offence.

Between 1am and 2am on Saturday, October 22, a 20-year-old woman was walking along Worting Road when she was approached from behind by a man she did not know.

After a brief exchange of words the woman was assaulted by the man before he stole her phone and bank card.

He then fled the scene in the direction of the fire station.

The victim received minor injuries as a result of the incident.

The man has been described as white, under 30 years of age, of skinny build, and around 5ft 10ins tall.

He was described as wearing a dark coloured hooded top, possibly underneath a coat, and his head was covered by either a hood or a hat.

Officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak in connection with the incident.

Detective Constable Edward Tyrie said: “We are trying to identify the man in this picture to speak with him about the incident, and would like to hear from anyone who can help us.

“In addition, we would like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed the incident, or saw a man matching the suspect’s description acting suspiciously in the area at this time.”
