A BRIGHTON Hill dad is appealing for his electric scooter to be returned after it was stolen.

Brian Nicholson returned to his property in Brahms Close, Brighton Hill, from an afternoon of fishing at around 6pm on July 29, to find that his red Kymo electric scooter had gone missing.

The 66-year-old says the scooter is something he “can’t do without” as he suffers from Myasthenia gravis – a rare long-term condition which causes certain muscles to become weak. He also uses it to visit his son Russell, 42, who needs aroundthe- clock care.

The father-of-one has now taken out a loan of £1,400 to buy a second-hand scooter but is appealing for whoever took his scooter to return it to him.

Brian told The Gazette: “It was in the daylight.

“It is upsetting because I have not been able to go round anywhere.

“It does quite a few miles so I have been panicking and I have got a loan to get a second-hand one. It was a lot of money and it has really affected me.

“It must have been driven away from here. It is not something you carry and it is extremely heavy.

“All I want is for it to be given back.”

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm we received a report of a theft of a mobility scooter from the front garden of a property in Brahms Close between 3pm and 6pm on July 29.

“We have spoken to the victim and are making enquiries.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting reference number 44150261824.
