A MAN from Basingstoke died when he was hit by a train.
Officers from British Transport Police were called to the railway line by Worting Road, Worting, just before 7.30am on Sunday morning.
A 67-year-old man from Basingstoke was treated for his injuries but was later pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics and officers from Hampshire Constabulary also attended.
A statement from British Transport Police read: “The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious. His family has been informed.”
A file is being prepared for Andrew Bradley, coroner for North East Hampshire, and a post-mortem is expected to take place today.
All lines between Basingstoke and Winchester were closed for several hours because of the death.
