BASINGSTOKE Town Football Club will play the biggest league game in their history at the Camrose tonight – and the team needs your support.

Jason Bristow’s men secured a place in the Blue Square Bet South play-offs at the weekend, and their prize is a two-legged semi-final against Dartford – with the first game at home this evening (kick-off 7.45pm).

“It is an exciting time, and tonight’s game is definitely the biggest league game that the club has ever played,” said Town boss Jason. “We are potentially three games away from the Blue Square Bet Premier.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to come down and get behind the team. The team have done their bit over the last 15 games, and it is important that they get all of the support possible to get over this final hurdle.”

Town go into the play-offs as the in-form team, having won eight and lost just one of their last 11 matches to snatch fifth position from Chelmsford City in the final week of the season.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Welling, which secured a play-off place for Town, was followed by scenes of celebration on and off the pitch – but Jason, who only took over as manager in late February, said that the hard work is only just beginning.

He added: “The players deserve to go on and make a real impact in the play-offs. We have achieved one goal, by getting there, but now it is the big one.”

Normal admission prices will apply for tonight’s game, with entrance charged at £12 for adults, £7 for concessions and £3 for under-16s. PERK card and Football League season ticket holder discounts do not apply but Town season ticket holders will be admitted free of charge on production of their season ticket book, with the extra match token attached.

The return leg against Dartford will be played on Sunday, and if Town triumph over the two games, they will be through to the play-off final against either Welling United or Sutton United on Sunday, May 13.
