SEVEN local law firms are working together to help people make wills.

The initiative is part of St Michael’s Make Your Will Fortnight, which runs from Monday, November 14 to Friday, November 27.

During the fortnight, the solicitors have agreed to waive their fee for writing, or changing, a simple will, in exchange for people making a donation to St Michael’s Hospice.

Lucinda Stubbs, head of marketing and fundraising at St Michael’s, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer the people of Basingstoke and north Hampshire the opportunity to make a will and get their affairs in order whilst helping the hospice.

“The support we have received from the local solicitors taking part has been overwhelming, and I would like to thank them for their generosity and hard work in support of the hospice.

“I would really encourage people not to pass by on this fantastic opportunity of supporting the hospice and securing their own future.”

Sheila Glyn-Owen, head of the wills and probate team at Phillips Solicitors, in Basingstoke, said: “Many people are worried by the thought of setting down their wishes in a will, but once they have done so they are immensely relieved.

“So if you haven’t yet made your will, do take advantage of this opportunity to put your affairs in order and benefit a wonderful local hospice at the same time.”
