A MAN will appear in court today charged with the murder of the widow of a Basingstoke coffee merchant.
Yesterday, detectives charged Matthew Hamlen, of Hamilton Road, Eastleigh, with the murder of pensioner Georgina Edmonds.
The 32-year-old is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Mrs Edmonds, 77, was the widow of Basingstoke coffee merchant Harry Edmonds. Their son, also called Harry, runs The Edmonds Group, which was run from an office in Paddington House, Festival Place, but is now based in Brambridge.
The pensioner was found dead in the kitchen of her home in Kiln Lane, Brambridge, on January 11, 2008. A post mortem found she died of extensive head injuries.
