A MAN suffered a bloody nose and split lip after he was punched and kicked to the floor following a night out with a friend in Basingstoke town centre.

The 24-year-old was walking home along Church Street to the dual carriageway junction and turned left towards Victory roundabout, when he was attacked about 100 metres from the underpass.

He suffered scratching and bruising to his eye, hips and arms following the assault on February 13 at 2.30am.

When he arrived home the victim discovered his phone and wallet were missing.

The attacker is described as white, aged in his mid 20s, 5ft 11ins tall, with dark hair, of a medium build and wearing a black jacket.

PC Peter Pritchard, from the Basingstoke targeted patrol team, said: “This happened near the underpass near Victory roundabout, which is well lit and visible from the road, so it may be that someone saw or heard this robbery happen.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Pritchard at Basingstoke police station on 101 or call the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
