A SUPERFAST broadband bus is coming to Basingstoke to show residents how the new Internet speeds of up to 40mb will transform their online experience.

Members of the public can see first hand how the new superfast fibre optic service works, by hopping on board the BT Infinity bus in the central car park at Festival Place.

On June 14 the double-decker will demonstrate the high tech applications for both homes and businesses.

During the visit BT will search for a ‘Superfamily’ who can show that the internet is an important part of their home life, and the winners will be given 18 months free BT Infinity.

Demonstrations on board the bus will show visitors how homes with multiple computers and Internet devices can simultaneously use services such as HD TV, gaming and social networking.

Mike Galvin, BT’s South East regional director said: “Basingstoke is one of the first places in the UK to benefit from BT’s fibre broadband and we are very keen to show local people the internet as they’ve never seen it before.

“As online services advance and evolve, BT’s fibre-based broadband will really make the difference in homes where competition is hotting up for Internet access.”

During the first phase of the superfast fibre broadband roll-out a total of 77 cabinets are being installed by Openreach, BT’s local access network division, which will connect more than 27,000 homes and businesses to the new superfast service.
