BASINGSTOKE’S Chemmane Applewhaite is set to make an X Factor comeback this weekend as she performs on a single that has every chance of being a chart-topper.

The 26-year-old, from Brighton Hill, and her fellow Kandy Rain bandmates were the first act to be voted off the live shows of the ITV1 competition.

But the quartet will be back in the public eye this weekend as they and the 11 other X Factor finalists have recorded a version of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

On Sunday, the finalists will perform the song for the first time on the live results show, before the single goes on sale on November 16.

Speaking to The Gazette, Chemmane said: “We went to Great Ormond Street Hospital and it was a real eye- opener. It was sad but it was very rewarding. It puts your life into perspective. We were singing karaoke with all the children.”

Kandy Rain have just one line in the song, but Chemmane said she was just happy to be involved.

She added: “It’s about raising money for charity. I’m looking forward to going back on the X Factor. We still stay in touch with everyone in the house.”

Since leaving the competition, Chemmane has been performing at gigs with Kandy Rain. The dance teacher said: “We have had a lot of interest in us and we have been really busy.”

Last year’s X Factor finalists raised £1million for the Help 4 Heroes charity when they released a cover of Mariah Carey’s Hero.
