A MAN found dead in Basingstoke town centre on Monday morning has been named.
Christy White's body was found by town centre security guards near The Anvil footbridge at about 2.40am.
It has now been revealed that the 27-year-old bled to death after sustaining an injury to his lower body caused by a tree branch.
The scene was quickly cordoned off by police and sniffer dogs and forensic teams were on the scene throughout the day.
Detectives from the Major Crime department of Hampshire Constabulary, based at Grosvenor House in Basingstoke, launched an investigation into Mr White's death.
However, the case has now been closed and the file passed to the coroner.
