A WOMAN was assaulted by a man who is known to her on the beach.
The woman, in her 60s, was on the West Cliff promenade between the BIC and Highcliff Marriot Hotel on Saturday, May 4, at around 3pm.
Officers say that during the incident, two men stepped in and shouted at the man to get off the victim he “assaulted”.
The woman did not suffer any injuries.
Dorset Police said it would not go into detail about how she was assaulted. The force is appealing for the two men to come forward to give their accounts.
Police constable Aimee Holland, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am keen to speak to the two men who intervened as they may have important information about what they saw.
“Also, I would appeal to anyone else who was in the area and saw what happened to please contact Dorset Police.”
