A RESTAURANT in Basingstoke's Festival Place has been shortlisted for three prestigious business awards.

Independent Nigerian restaurant, Afrizi, is vying for the top spot in three categories of this year’s Destination Basingstoke Inspire Business Awards, which rewards the success of business across the borough.

Co-owner and manager Carlee Osundina, 24, is a finalist in the Young Business Person of the Year category, while Zara Smith is up for Apprentice of the Year. The eco-conscious business has also been recognised in the Sustainable Champion category, sponsored by PLANT.

Afrizi, which is owned and managed by Carlee and her husband Ezekiel, offers customers a chance to discover the exciting flavours of Africa, with a menu showcasing popular Nigerian street food, from flaky meat pies to sweet, deep-fried puff puffs.

The eco-friendly restaurant and takeaway also offers vegetarian and vegan options and makes its own tofu in house.
