BASING United edged out Warnborough in a close encounter to secure a 2-1 victory and lift the North Hants DFA Saturday May Cup, writes Tony Spencer.
After a very even first half, just before half-time, the Basing No 9 Ash Elward was pulled down on the right side of the Warnborough box.
A penalty was awarded and Elward took it himself, stroking the ball to the right of the keeper, 1-0.
Early in the second half Warnborough equalised with a header by Max Ashby at the far post, 1-1.
Late in the game Warnboough conceded a free kick which Jack Arthur netted Basing United’s winner, 2-1.
