A NURSERY is currently running a 'reduced service' for children aged two and under after being told it needs to re-register with Ofsted.

The Gazette was informed by parents of children who attend Sherfield School Nursery, based within Sherfield School, in South Drive, Sherfield-on-Loddon, about the issue.

Neil Richards, the interim head of the school, said: "Sherfield School wishes to confirm running a reduced service for the 0-2 nursery section. It is not closed, but offers a temporary limited provision, and contrary to speculations not due to a visit by Ofsted officials."

Mr Richards said that the matter was a 'clerical error' and he is looking forward to offering the full nursery provision again soon.

Ofsted confirmed earlier in March that the school had to re-register.

Mr Richards added: "This process of re-registration is now well underway."

The Gazette understands that Ofsted inspectors have not visited the nursery recently to carry out an inspection.

Sherfield School was sold by GEMS Bellevue to Education in Motion (EiM) in 2023.

Bellevue was previously managing the school on behalf of its owner, The Varkey Group.

The school confirmed that The Varkey Group made the 'difficult decision' to sell the school, and EiM was selected as the buyer following a rigorous process.
