People have taken to Facebook to ask for more information, with some saying they had been in the bakery on Thursday and it was operating normally, before it closed suddenly on Friday, with no explanation.

One said: “I really hope that everything is OK. Such a fantastic business started by beautiful talented people.”

Indigo Bakes said that the business has closed due to costs greater than sales.

As previously reported, Indigo Bakes was set up in 2015 by Patrick and Amanda Bowden. The couple operated a bakery in Silchester before opening a café at The Courtyard in Lychpit last year.

It was named the best in Hampshire at the National Bakery Awards in June last year.
