A COLOUR consultant from Whitchurch has said that a TikTok trend is setting the way for a new generation to take an interest in sustainable fashion.

Style and colour consultant Kate Jones from House of Colour in Whitchurch, said a trend on TikTok has seen business go 'absolutely crazy' in the last few months.

The 53-year-old mother was alerted to the trend by her daughters after a filter on TikTok allowed people to determine which colours best complement their complexion, using a shifting wheel of colour.

She said: "I have got all the youngsters coming in because it is so trendy on TikTok or social media. I think that it helps so much because people know what suits them so they are only buying really wisely, especially the youngsters who don't have a huge disposable income anyway.

"They are being so much more careful because they know what suits them and they end up with a wardrobe that they know will work for them and work together."

She continued: "It is such fun but its really nice because it is helping with the ethical sustainable management fashion element too. It is really exciting that its back in fashion to have your colours analysed and your style done. The TikTok sensation has been amazing for most of us (other consultants) up and down the country."

Kate bought her franchise with House of Colour 20 years ago from her mother Jane, who was a pioneering colour analyst in the UK and took on one of the first House of Colour franchises in Britain nearly 40 years ago. Since then, House of Colour has become a well-known international brand.

Kate previously told the Gazette she was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2007, at the age of 37,  when her business started to get going and her daughters were four and five years old.

She added: “I am so pleased people are discovering the benefits of knowing the colours and styles that best suit them. My clients learn how to look their very best every day - no matter what their job or lifestyle. Colour analysis gives them the knowledge and confidence to shop more wisely, spending more on better quality clothing while avoiding unsustainable fast fashion.

“Many of my clients have become, like me, passionate about shopping in pre-loved, vintage and nearly-new shops. Knowing your best colours and styles enables you to shop more confidently, carefully and therefore thoughtfully.”

House of Colour’s colour analysis is a unique, science-based process that reveals a client’s very best colour palette of 36 different tones. For ease the various colour palettes are categorised into ‘seasons’ - everyone has a particular ‘season’ of colours that suits their skin tone best.

Colour analysis isn’t just for clothes, Kate advises her clients about jewellery, hair colour, accessories and make up. During a colour analysis consultation, she includes tips on how to strip back your make up for an easy, flattering look.

Kate says she couldn’t be prouder of its heritage – or more excited that the next generation are recognising its considerable benefits.
