Those curious about how an apprenticeship could open up career pathways will be able to find out what an apprenticeship is, the range of sectors and career opportunities they offer, how the application process works and how to find the right apprenticeship. They will also hear success stories from current apprentices.

There will also be an expert panel made up of speakers from the Department for Education's ASK Apprenticeship programme, Basingstoke ITEC, Castle Trust Bank and the borough council who will be on hand to answer questions.

Apprenticeships provide an opportunity for people to earn while they learn and combine practical hands-on work experience with off-the-job classroom-based learning.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s cabinet member for communities, partnerships and inclusion, Cllr John McKay, said: “Apprenticeships offer students the chance to learn practical skills in the workplace, starting their careers with on-the-job training and a qualification, all while earning a wage.

"Choosing the right opportunity and sector can be daunting, but this event will show how apprenticeships can blend learning with hands-on experience and how they are often a great way to kickstart a career."
