Emergency road closure on the A34 (Image: contributed)
A major road near Winchester is currently closed for emergency roadworks.
The northbound section of the two-lane A34 between the A33 at Kings Worthy and the Three Maids Hill interchange with the A272 is shut.
The closure was imposed at 6am this morning and is not expected to be lifted until 8.30am, according to the Traffic England website.
The reason for the emergency work was unclear.
The road has now reopened.
National Highways have been approached to ask for more details.
