TADLEY ushered in the holiday season with a dazzling display of lights and festivities as the Christmas lights were officially switched on last Friday, November 24.

The evening kicked off with a lively Christmas market at 6pm, setting the stage for a night of merriment.

Families and friends gathered at Franklin Avenue, Tadley, as the clock struck 7pm for the much-anticipated illumination of the Tadley Tree Lights.

The event, sponsored by Tadley Slimming World, saw characters from the Anvil Peter Pan Pantomime, Mrs Darling (Melanie Walters) and Captain Hook (Chris Fearn), taking centre stage to officially switch on the Tadley Tree Lights.

Among the special guests were Princess Ariel and The Grinch.

Borough Mayor David Leeks was the MC for the event.

The crowd was treated to enchanting performances by the West Berks Rock Choir and carol singing by the talented Burnham Copse School students.

The entertainment lineup also included the Juggling Jake and Chris, the delightful Bubbles Man, and a Merry-Go-Round.

Santa Claus, brought by the Loddon Valley Lions, delighted children and adults alike.

Elm Park Garden Centre contributed the Christmas tree, with Budget Fork Trucks ensuring its grand display.

Peter Salter Electrical and Phil Hiscock put the tree up and decorated it with lights.

County Hire provided the necessary barriers, while Sainsbury's Tadley sweetened the event with mince pies and donated £50 worth of vegetables to the Tadley Food Pantry.

Tadley & District Community Centre provided refreshments

Following the event, Tadley Town Council posted on social media to thank the community partners, including Anthony Bower and Larry Pegg, who made the festive spectacle possible.
