Independent gift and lifestyle shop Fig and Fox are in ‘advanced talks’ to move to a permanent retail space in Festival Place according to owner James Mitchell.

As previously reported, the shop opened on Friday, September 15 as a pop-up store, and will be open until January 14, 2024.

However, the business, owned by Helen Mitchell, 30, and her husband James, 34, is in advanced talks with Festival Place to lease a ‘larger, more permanent space within the shopping centre’.

“We hope to move from our current space in January/February following a schedule of shop fitting and works.

“The new space will allow us to broaden our range and extend our Hampshire food market section.

“We have applied for a premises license in anticipation of the move, to allow us to continue selling our range of locally sourced alcoholic products,” said James.

The shop offers individual and designer-led products as well as food and drink from the Basingstoke area and a range of personalised items including greeting cards, notebooks, and Christmas baubles.

He added: “Our trial shop has been well received by Basingstoke and we have felt welcomed into the community, we look forward to becoming a permanent retailer.”

The retailer first opened in The Hundred, Romsey in October 2022, and announced a residency at Winchester Cathedral Christmas market in December.
