Hampshire Hawks, the joint most successful team in Twenty20 domestic cricket, and double champions Southern Vipers, will kick-off 2024’s white ball cricket campaign as part of the Vitality Blast Off.

Vitality Blast Off is a four-day festival of men’s and women’s domestic Twenty20 cricket to start the season, with 2024’s expanded version set to feature seven men’s and women’s T20 double headers, starting at The Ageas Bowl.

More than 14,000 people attended the first-ever Vitality Blast Off at Edgbaston in 2023.

On Thursday, November 30, Vitality Blast Off begins with three Charlotte Edwards Cup and Vitality Blast double headers at The Ageas Bowl, Emirates Old Trafford and the County Ground, Northampton.

The opening day is highlighted by Charlotte Edwards Cup champions Southern Vipers hosting Western Storm while Hampshire Hawks and Surrey, who both reached Vitality Blast Finals Day in July, also meet at The Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire Hawks enjoyed another record-breaking T20 season in 2023, on and off the pitch, as the team made a tenth appearance at Finals Day and welcomed more than 50,000 fans to games at The Ageas Bowl.

Despite the disappointment of not securing back-to-back Blast titles, the Hawks look back positively on a season which saw the highest ever number of supporters attending a T20 game at The Ageas Bowl and the team reach an unprecedented tenth Finals Day.

The announcement of Vitality Blast Off’s fixtures comes ahead of the men’s county and women’s regional domestic fixtures set to be announced next Thursday.

Last season Hampshire Cricket finished third in the 2023 LV= County Championship Division One, which Southern Vipers took home the domestic double; Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup.

Neil Snowball, managing director of County Cricket at ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board), said: “It is hugely exciting to be able to confirm that Vitality Blast Off will be expanded to include eight venues next summer as we aim to attract more people to watch men’s and women’s domestic cricket.

“We have scheduled some of the highest-profile men’s and women’s games during the four-day window, which will also launch the new Vitality Blast season in style.

“We saw how successful Vitality Blast Off was this summer when Edgbaston did a remarkable job, as they always do, to put on a show for fans on and off the field and we’re determined to build on that.

“I know supporters will also be excited to know that the men’s county and women’s regional schedule is just a week away from being announced, and now is the perfect time to get in contact with your local county about memberships for next season.”
