FORMER Basingstoke Bison fans’ favourite netminder Dan Weller-Evans has signed for the Buffalo for this season, writes Graham Merry.

The club have also announced the re-signings of forwards Cam Buckle and Xander Robinson as well as defenceman Sam Compton.

Weller-Evans will be great addition for the Buffs and brings a wealth of experience to the side having spent eight seasons with the Bison.

The very popular cageman was twice a league winner with the Herd.

Basingstoke-born Buckle is back for a seventh season with the Buffalo and last term finished with 38 points from 23 games.

This was his third 30-plus points campaign for the team.

Robinson was the under-18 Bison captain last season his final year at this age group and he also played two games for the Bison.

He finished the year with 14 goals to his name from his games with the under-18s and Buffalo.

Blue liner Compton returns for an eighth season and leads by example being the Buffs captain last term.

The Buffalo will open their season with a home challenge match on Sunday September 3 against the Coventry Blaze.

The game starts at 6.15pm at the Basingstoke Arena and fans are advised that seating in the main stands is no longer available.

So spectators can stand around the boards or watch the game from the bar.

After this match, the Buffalo start their league campaign with three home games.

The first is against Cardiff on Saturday September 9 and then Streatham come to town on September 17, before Bristol make the trip to Basingstoke for a game on September 23.
