IT has officially been confirmed that Basingstoke Town FC will play in the Southern League next season, following some ambiguity after their recent league title win.

The Dragons achieved promotion as champions of the Isthmian League Southern South Division on the last day of the season, and since then the club has been unsure about which league they will play in next season, due to the structure of the football pyramid.

It has now been confirmed that the Southern League Premier South is the division that 'Stoke will compete in during the 23/24 campaign.

The league will commence on Saturday, August 5.

The division will finish on Saturday, April 27, 2024, with the playoff semi-finals being held during the following midweek, and the playoff finals on Monday, May 6, 2024.

Speaking to the Gazette after the 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth in the Hampshire Senior Cup Final, where the team won the treble for the first time in the club's history, manager Dan Brownlie shared a few thoughts about the upcoming season.

He said: "We've got a good side, I believe they'll stick together, we want them to stick together but it is going to be a tough setting next year.

"I'll give myself a bit of freedom now to wind down, and then I'll think about next year."

Basingstoke will be joined in their new league by Isthmian League Southern Central play-off champions Walton & Hersham, and will face the likes of Winchester City and newly promoted Didcot Town.
