AN AWARD-winning hospital radio in Basingstoke is set to be launched on DAB services.

Hospital Radio Basingstoke (HRB) is launching on DAB on Friday, March 31 at 12pm.

The huge milestone in HRB’s 50-year history will mean that residents of Basingstoke and the surrounding areas will now be able to listen to the station on their DAB radios at home and in their cars.

This is in addition to how people currently listen, including online at hrbasingstoke.co.uk, via their smart speaker and on the Hospedia bedside terminals at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

HRB’s vision for the future is to continue to provide entertainment and information but to expand this to a larger listener base and broadcast as a health and wellbeing community station.

As part of the DAB launch, HRB is looking to hear from local residents. Have you listened during a hospital visit? Did it help your recovery in any way? Or you might even just want to wish them good luck for the launch or request a song. You can get in touch by emailing pr@hrbasingstoke.co.uk or you can send a WhatsApp text or voicenote on 07400 043088.

Hospital Radio Basingstoke is a registered charity that broadcasts 24 hours a day to the patients and staff of Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital through the free radio service on the Hospedia terminals, which are installed at almost all beds within the hospital.

They are run entirely by volunteers, who regularly give up their spare time to keep us on air and entertain our listeners.

In 2022, Hospital radio celebrated 50 years of broadcasting in the town and look forward to widening its audience via DAB.
