PROFESSIONAL footballer Asmir Begović is encouraging all children, boys and girls, to come along to his Basingstoke-based Goalkeeper Academy. 

Named after himself, the Asmir Begović Academy is aimed at children aged from five to 14 specialises in coaching and educating young goalkeepers. 

The academy is held every Friday evening from 4.30pm till 6pm at the Winklebury football centre and focuses on individual work, developing and strengthening fundamental goalkeeping techniques.

Asmir, who has been Everton's goalkeeper for the last two seasons since 2021 and has also played for AFC Bournemouth, Chelsea and more, said: "I started this academy in Basingstoke just over 12 months, but I want it to grow even more and give more children the oppurtunity to get involved. 

"We have a team of great coaches at the academy and I am very passionate about giving back to the next generation of footballers and to encourage more children to take up the position of being a goal keeper."

With the idea of giving children access to the specialised goalkeeping training Asmir first started the Asmir Begović Academy in 2018 and since then has expanded with academies based in Surrey, Lancashire, Chesire in the UK as well as in Germany and Bosnia.
