On Saturday, Basingstoke travelled to face Fareham Men’s 2s. Basingstoke started well and scored first to go 1-0 up from a drag flick penalty corner conversion from Graham Garrett-Lang.

Basingstoke continued to put the pressure on Fareham with Dan Stewart winning the ball in the D and forcing Fareham to save the ball off the line with a foot, earning a penalty flick.

Player of the match Graham Garrett-Lang stepped up once again to convert the flick and put Basingstoke 2-0 up at half time. Fareham came out strong in the second half, bringing 1 back through a penalty corner conversion.

Basingstoke continued to have many chances but were unable to convert. With 30 seconds left on the clock, Basingstoke conceded a penalty corner which Fareham thought they had converted; however, the goal was disallowed as the ball had not been taken outside of the D and Basingstoke claimed the three points.

Basingstoke’s second game of the weekend saw them travel to face Eastcote Men’s 1s on Sunday in a rearranged league game.

Basingstoke started well, with Dean Record scoring the first goal for Basingstoke. Eastcote’s goalkeeper kept them in the game with several great saves to keep it 1-0 at half time.
