Basingstoke Men’s 1s lost to Marlow Men’s 1s in a top-of-the-table clash this week. Marlow started well and scored two early goals before Dean Record pulled one back to make it 1-2 at half time. Marlow continued to show their dominance in the second half and extended their lead by two further goals to confirm a 1-4 loss for Basingstoke.

Basingstoke Ladies 1s had their game postponed this week in the Women’s Vitality Conference West. Next week they travel to Bristol to face Bristol Firebrands Ladies 1s.

Basingstoke Ladies 2s continued their brilliant form as they defeated third-placed Haslemere Ladies 1s away from home.

Basingstoke started well, setting up a strong press which enabled at break at goal for Maddie Saunders to make it 1-0.

Haslemere responded with a strong penalty corner strike to level the score at half time. In the second half Basingstoke continued displayed their strength in defence, along with some excellent saves from goalkeeper Eleanor Smith, to keep them in the game.

With 15 minutes to go, Kitty Brockbank played a superb ball out the back to Jo Bowden, who moved the ball on quickly down the left to set up Maddie Saunders, who scored her second of the game with a reverse stick strike past the goalkeeper, to win the game 2-1. A superb victory for the ladies to take into their next game in two weeks’ time.

Basingstoke Men’s 2s lost 1-10 against Haslemere Men’s 1s. Basingstoke Ladies 3s lost 0-3 against Portsmouth Ladies 2s.

Basingstoke Men’s 3s had a close game this week, losing 2-3 against Gosport Men’s 1s, the goals from John-Paul Vout and Matt Cuss. Basingstoke Ladies 4s claimed a vital point away at Chichester with a 0-0 draw.

Basingstoke Men’s 5s secured a great 3-0 against Alton 5s, with goals from Toby Osborne, Chris Jenkins & player of the match Cian O’Reilly. Basingstoke Ladies 5s lost 1-2 against Hamble Ladies 2s, featuring a goal for Kirsten Hazelwood.

Basingstoke Ladies 6s won 4-0 against Gosport Ladies. A superb debut performance from Alexis Hornsby, who scored a hat-trick and was the player of the match, alongside a goal for Zara Nicholls ensured the win. Basingstoke Men’s 6s lost 0-1 to Fareham.

Next week, almost all teams have a week off at BHC, apart from the Ladies 1s who travel to take on Bristol Firebrands on Saturday, February 19.
