Twelve junior players from Basingstoke Hockey Club have received their county call ups for Hampshire.

Two more players, who are yet to be assessed, are also likely to make it to the Hampshire squad.

Hampshire Hockey operates the county-level elements of the England Hockey Player Pathway, known as Development Centres (DCs) and the Academy Centres (ACs) for players living in and around Hampshire.

Basingstoke Hockey Club nominated their highest number of talented junior players (55) this year for DC and after a series of training sessions and a friendly competition festival day, 25 Basingstoke players were selected to go forward for the final assessments. From these assessments, 12 players made it to the AC squads and the Hampshire County teams, while two more Basingstoke players are awaiting assessment.

These players will join other players from across the county at a range of age groups from Under 13 to Under 17, in both the boys’ and girls’ squads.

Five Basingstoke Hockey Club coaches continue to support the great work of Hampshire Hockey and have been appointed as Hampshire coaches.

Basingstoke Hockey Club runs sessions from U6 to U16, which sees over 220 children and young people enjoying both high quality hockey coaching as well as a huge amount of fun and enjoyment.
