POLICE have identified the Basingstoke man who died in a fatal accident on the M3 motorway earlier today.
Martin David Hopper, 40, from Campsie Close, Buckskin, died when his motorcycle was in collision with a Citroen car and an HGV lorry.
The collision, which occurred at around 5.35am between junctions 4a and five, caused traffic chaos for motorists.
The northbound M3 between the two junctions was closed for several hours and diversions were set up through Hartley Wintney and Camberley.
Police reopened the carriageway at noon.
A 27-year-old man from Devon, who was driving the Citroen car, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is in police custody.

Police are also appealing for the driver of a lorry believed to be in the area at the time of the incident to contact them.
