POPLEY residents had a surprise on Saturday evening when a car drove into a garage, but not in the conventional way to park the vehicle up.
Police were called to Guernsey Close at 7.25pm after reports that a BMW had collided with a brick garage.
The vehicle remained embedded in the garage later in the week with it understood the extent of structural damage to the building needing to be assessed.
There were no reported injuries but two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Catalin-Ioan Avadanei, 29, of Flaxfield Road, Basingstoke, has been charged with drink driving, driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid test certificate.
Jeanina Mikaela Ceausu, 28, of Jersey Close, Basingstoke, has been charged with drink driving, driving without a license, and driving without insurance.
Both have been bailed to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 21.
