Leadership Award, sponsored by Waitrose.

IN JUST one of the three award wins for Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College (CBEC), the school’s headteacher was picked out for her positive effect since taking the top job.

Jane Aplin was the recipient of the Leadership Award, for her work in helping to lift the school out of special measures and lifting the school’s leadership rating from Ofsted up to a ‘good’.

Jane said: “It’s an amazing feeling to win. I was completely shocked, especially as there were so many others who deserved the award as well, I thought that I had no chance.”

Jane was honoured for making the school feel like a more human organisation and pioneering a new student leadership team to listen to their peers at CBEC.

Jane added: “This award is not just for me, it is for all the staff, students and governors, without who, I couldn’t do it without.

“I’m really proud of the school. It is great to look outwards and show how great our school is and celebrate all the schools in the area.”

Part of one of Jane’s nominations read: “The whole school has had a massive shift in culture brought about by her open and welcoming personality whilst also establishing high levels of expectations of herself, students and staff.

“We could not have achieved what we have done so far without having her as our headteacher and the leader of our school firmly and securely achieving excellence in everything.”
