A POLICE probe has been launched after a cyclist was found with serious injuries on a footpath yesterday.

A 58-year-old cyclist was found injured on a footpath from Winklebury Way to Milestones Museum just before 6pm.

The man, from Basingstoke, had serious injuries and had to be taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.

Investigations into how the cyclist came off his bike are ongoing and officers are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at around that time.
